World Book Day

World Book Day, which we celebrated across the whole week, was hugely successful at All Saints!

We packed our week with inspiration, competitions, workshops and creative lessons to help celebrate our love for books and reading.

This is the 20th year there’s been a World Book Day, and on 2nd March 2017 children from nursery to year 6 came together to appreciate reading –  very excitedly and very happily!

The main aim of World Book Day was to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading. Therefore children took part in lots of book related competitions; we dressed up as our favourite characters (yes, even the staff!); we encouraged our families to come into school to read with us; we took part in a book swap; held workshops for our parents and even wrote an All Saints story!

Mental Health and Wellbeing Week

All Saints Primary School are supporting mental health and wellbeing week. We believe that the emotional well-being of our young people is just as important as their academic ability and by knowing how to manage their feelings and emotions will support them in getting the best out of their lives. We all know that from time to time we have to deal with difficult situations, disappointment and face problems and we at All Saints have always been committed to supporting our children, staff and families in this. We are proud of the partnership we have with families and the good relationships we have between staff and children. Managing emotions, knowing how to relax and feel good, having skills to self-regulate, building relationships and connecting with the world are all tools we should aim to have.

This week we are giving our children, families and staff the opportunity to ‘try out’ some of these activities and give some dedicated time to think about our well-being. Week beginning 6th-10th February is a chance to have ‘taster sessions’ in activities and locally available initiatives. There will be activities in school for the children to take part in to dedicate time to their emotional, health and physical well-being. Please get involved, support us and come along to the ‘market hall’ event on Thursday 9th February and other free sessions including relaxation, yoga, Smoothie Bike and Move with Peppa.

Year 2 Trip to Cadbury World

On Tuesday 28th June all the children in Year 2 went on an excellent adventure to Cadbury World. We spent the day learning all about where chocolate comes from, how it is turned into chocolate bars and even tasting our own chocolate and toppings creations! We had lots of fun and really enjoyed our trip.

During the afternoon, children from Years 1-6 also took part in a World Record Breaking attempt – the World’s largest lesson, with £1 being donated for every child taking part by the School Advisory Service.

Remembrance Day 2015

As you may all remember, last summer our children made poppies, using different
art forms, to  commemorate the centenary of the First World War and last week we
were very lucky to have worked with such a talented artist from outside of our
school to create our art piece! ! Our original vision of  having an  outdoor
installation would have meant that our art of remembrance would have only been a
temporary structure due to the durability of the material. Therefore,
collectively, we decided on a cross that will be shared as an indoor art piece
within the local community as a tribute to our service men and women. How
fantastic does it look!

Where in the world? – updated

This summer you were set the challenge of taking a photo whilst reading….this could be anywhere and reading anything! It could be perched on a mountain, whilst splashing in the sea or on a swing in the park!

Mrs Richards has also submitted her reading entry. Where could she be?
