In Early years and KS1 teachers follow the Letters and Sounds planning, starting at Phase 1 and as they move through school ending on Phase 6. Children use phonics fingers to count out the sounds before blending words. Flashcards with sound buttons are used to help the children break down the words into individual sounds. A variety of activities and games are used to help children apply their phonics knowledge .
Below are videos recorded by members of staff that detail which sounds are taught in each phase and give advice on how to decode, segment and blend words to support your children at home.
