Spirituality

At All Saints C of E Primary School, we believe that spirituality is about much more than a moment—it's a journey of discovery, reflection, and growth.

Spiritual development is nurtured in every part of school life: in our learning, relationships, worship, and environment. To help children explore and grow spiritually, we use the concept of Windows, Mirrors, and Doors:

  • Windows offer opportunities for children to look out at the world with a sense of wonder, noticing beauty, injustice, joy, and suffering.

  • Mirrors give time for self-reflection—encouraging pupils to look inward, to consider their own thoughts, feelings, and beliefs.

  • Doors invite response and action, helping children step out to make a difference in their community and the wider world.

These concepts are brought to life not only through our curriculum and worship, but through our outdoor area and school forest, which we see as sacred spaces for spiritual growth. In these natural settings, children experience the awe of creation, reflect in stillness, and encounter moments of peace and inspiration. Whether they’re building dens, listening to the sounds of nature, or quietly wondering under the trees, the outdoor environment helps pupils connect with something greater than themselves.

Through our outdoor learning, children engage with deep questions about life and the world around them. They are encouraged to see the beauty and fragility of nature through the "windows," reflect on their role as stewards of the Earth through the "mirrors," and take practical steps to care for creation through the "doors."

Spirituality at All Saints is not a separate part of school life—it is at the heart of who we are and how we grow, together. By creating space for children to wonder, reflect, and act, we support them in becoming compassionate, thoughtful individuals, rooted in Christian values and open to life’s deeper meanings.
