Nursery & Reception

A Message from the Phase Leader

A very warm welcome to you and your family as you begin your journey with us in the Early Years at All Saints.  I feel privileged to work within such a  passionate setting where our children build curiosity, discover, grow and build a love for learning.

As a team, we believe that every child is unique and special. Our nurturing and stimulating environment encourages children to learn through play, build  positive relationships, and develop the confidence and skills they need for a happy and successful start to their school life.

We look forward to getting to know you and your child, celebrating their achievements, and creating wonderful memories together.

Welcome to our Early Years and All Saints family!

Warmest wishes,

Mrs Thomas and the Early Years Team

Assistant Headteacher and Early Years Lead

Our Approach

At All Saints, we want our children to be inquisitive, independent learners, so that every child can achieve and no child is left behind. We recognise that children’s personal, social and emotional development is crucial for children to lead healthy and happy lives, and it is fundamental to their cognitive development.

Our curriculum is a rich mixture of different approaches. These include: child initiated learning, alongside adult guided and adult led learning to ensure that children not only develop their own ideas, but also receive ambitious, carefully sequenced learning to help them progress and meet age appropriate milestones.

We carefully plan an enabling environment to promote high quality, challenge led play, allowing children to uncover and discover. This environment ensures that children:  have the time and space to invent their own play, learn through group work and interaction with their peers, and work alongside adults who act as role models and guide children to achieve.

We place huge importance on the outdoors and recognise the impact this can have on developing children’s language and understanding of the world through play. At All Saints children will use the ‘Hoglets Burrow’ forest area and the ’Little Saints Town’ in the school grounds to provide them with hands on, memorable and meaningful experiences and a link to their local area.

Our curriculum is an inquiry led learning journey, where children are encouraged to problem solve using ideas of their own. Where possible, learning is based around a text to enable the promotion of early language, comprehension and a love of reading whilst also providing a context and ensuring learning is succinct and joined up.

At each stage of a child’s development, we aim to work in partnership with parents to help them to support their child and ensure that every child gets the best out of their time at All Saints. We will provide parents with updates of what their child is learning and why, and provide opportunities for parents to come into school to work alongside their child.

At All Saints, through our dedicated staff team who create strong, warm and supportive relationships enabling children to thrive, and our exciting, child centred and experience rich curriculum, we are proud to nurture and grow the children of the next generation.
