Day 4 – our final full day

What a day! Waking up after yesterday’s epic adventure, we were a little tired and achy. We battled on and threw ourselves into another full day of adventures, beginning with breakfast! After filling ourselves up with energy to conquer today’s challenges, we split off into our groups and pushed ourselves to persevere to achieve our goals. We couldn’t believe how well we had done, especially when we thought about how nervy we found climbing at the start of the week. Dinner was a warming meal of sausages (pork or veggie) mash and veg: we didn’t realise quite how much of an appetite we had worked up until we started eating. This was followed by jelly and artic roll – de-lish!

As it had gone dark, we played games outside with our torches before coming inside to begin packing! We’ve organised ourselves ready to make our last morning as easy as possible before coming down to spend our pennies in the Frank Chapman shop! Who knew there were going to be so many possibilities? After making our selections and paying, we settled down for a small hot chocolate before bed. We have made so many happy memories and are all very eager to share them with you tomorrow.

Goodnight

“I never thought I’d love abseiling as much as that – it looked scary but it is reallllllly fun!” HH yr3

“I wish I could come back and do the high ropes every day!” DS yr4

Day 3- The Big Walk!

Good evening everyone,

We have had a verrrrrry tiring but fantastic day walking to Bewdley today. We really enjoyed visiting somewhere new and experiencing a (muddy) adventure together!

We were up bright and early and again filled our tummies ready for the walk and then we set off up some very muddy tracks into Bewdley. When we arrived, after walking for what felt like hours and hours, it was time for lunch. So, we sat down together to have our lunch before we got an extra special treat of visiting the sweet shop!

The sweets softened the news that we did in fact have to walk allllll the way back!! Even though our feet were tired, we didn’t give up and we helped each other all the way back to the centre, sharing jokes, singings songs and chatting away.

We have just finished dinner of chicken/vegetable pie, potatoes and sweetcorn with sponge cake and custard for dessert. Some of us tried something new, including some of the salad items in the salad bar and we even had seconds! We must have worked up an appetite after all that walking!

We are going to have a game of hide and seek before heading to bed. We have felt really proud of ourselves for walking so far today and some said it was the furthest they had EVER walked EVER!!

We are looking forward to our day of activities tomorrow and our last full day at the Centre.

Goodnight everyone!

Day 2- The adventure continues…

Good evening everyone,

Wow what a day!! After an early start, we got ready and filled our bellies with a mighty breakfast of toast, cereal and fruit, we were then ready for the exciting day ahead!

Over the week, we are completing a rotation of activities in our teams. These include;

  • High ropes
  • Tree climbing and abseiling
  • Climbing
  • Bush craft

Children thought these activities were ‘epic’ and here is what some of them said:

“After abseiling I felt proud of myself. I didn’t think I could do it but I abseiled all the way down.” -E.M yr4

“I felt brave because it was really high but I did it” -D.S yr3

“I was scared, but once I did it, I realised it wasn’t so bad!” -ES yr3

We definitely worked up an appetite and before we knew it, it was lunch time! We demolished a yummy sandwich, some fruit and biscuits which got us ready for our next rotation of activities.

After a little down time, building new friendships and playing together, we headed into the dining hall for our dinner of spaghetti bolognese or jacket potato with cheese and beans followed by chocolate sponge and chocolate sauce- a real treat!
After dinner, we did some orienteering around the grounds before completing a written task (shh though it’s a surprise!)

We absolutely need a good night sleep this evening ready for our big walk to Bewdley tomorrow. We may not get chance to write tomorrow, but we will definitely post on Thursday if not and the post man may visit in the meantime! We without a doubt faced some fears today and our teachers are incredibly proud of us! We can’t wait to find out what tomorrow has to bring.

Today, the children demonstrated perseverance and resilience and their confidence grew as the day progressed. They learnt new skills, tackled lots of challenges and provided support to one another throughout the activities. Team All Saints!
