World Book Day

We had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day this year. We came to school dressed as vocabulary. We shared our outfits in assembly. This was really inspiring as we learned lots of new words we could use in our writing and reading. The teachers dressed up too. Mrs Beech came as 'illuminated' and wore sparkly lights and Mrs Mulhern was 'indecisive' wearing two different shoes, socks and lots of question marks.

Our shared book this year was called 'Save us' a book inspired by David Attenborough which raises the issue of plastic pollution and the harm it is doing to our sea creatures. This motivated us all to write a rap encouraging others to think about this issue and how we can all work together to stop it. We really enjoyed performing and chose winners who had particularly inspiring lyrics. They were given a prize book in assembly. At the end of the day we enjoyed a story read by another teacher. It was nice to relax and enjoy a story together.
