RE At All Saints

RE is a central part of our curriculum at All Saints. It is at the heart of what we do as a church school and plays a key role in giving our children a sense of place in the world and supporting the values of mutual respect and tolerance.
Our aim is to give children a solid grounding in religion by developing their understanding of theology, to help them to make sense of what religion means to them and others through philosophy and to develop their knowledge of how diverse religious beliefs are expressed and celebrated by studying human sciences.
Our curriculum is based on Understanding Christianity and units from the agreed local syllabus (Sandwell SACRE). RE is taught on a weekly basis across the school. We aim to find a balance between giving our children a strong foundation in understanding the Christian faith and reflecting the diverse community which we serve. To this end, we devote 50% of our curriculum time to Christianity with the other half of our curriculum covering a range of faiths and non-religious world views which have been selected based on the faiths and beliefs present in our school community.
Our RE teaching does not stand alone and is closely linked to the work that we do to recognise and develop spirituality and our collective worship. We also offer our children regular opportunities to visit places of worship, including All Saints Church, as part of our RE curriculum.
