  • Frank Chapman- Day 2

    Tue 14 Mar 2023

What a fantastic day! Today has been jam-packed from start to finish.

We woke up bright and early, brushed our teeth, dressed in our winter woollies and headed down to breakfast. After we’d munched on cereal and toast, we headed out to our morning activities.

Across the day there were four challenging activities:

Mining: in our groups, we were extremely brave and entered the mines. We followed two tracks, crawling on our bellies like an Action Hero. It was pitch black, narrow and extremely tight.

Rock climbing: we worked together to attach our harnesses and began tackling the first of the three walls. We were so brave as it was higher than it looked! In true All Saints style, we persevered and worked together.

Blind lines: we walked deep into the forest to find a set of blind folds and lines of ropes.  In pairs, we followed the lines that led us around an obstacle course. As we carefully navigated our way, one wore a blind fold and the other led. It was really trick!

Archery: we learnt how to attach our arm-guard, perfect the correct stance and improve accuracy and power. We each had 5 arrows and first began practicing the new skills that we had been taught. After that, the pressure was on! In our teams, we had to see who could shoot with perfect accuracy and power to achieve the highest total.

After a day of fun and experiences that will last forever, we ate our evening meal (as it began to snow), completed our diaries and settled down with a biscuit and a hot chocolate to watch a film.

We are having the best time!

  • Frank Chapman- Day 1

    Mon 13 Mar 2023

We've had such a busy day so far, we haven't had a moment to stop!

As we drove up the path towards Frank Chapman, a tree had fallen and blocked the road but luckily it was Team All Saints to the rescue!

Once we had arrived, we unpacked our suitcases, made our beds and then headed down to lunch- we were starving!  After lunch, we headed out for an afternoon of team building.  Together, we persevered to complete a range of challenging tasks- it was great fun!

To complete our first day, we filled our bellies (once more) and then wrapped up to venture out into the forest for a night walk.  To end the walk, we stood under the stars and made a wish under The Magic Tree.

We can't wait to find out what tomorrow has in store for us!

  • Edgmond Hall- Day 2

    Tue 07 Feb 2023

We have had another fantastic day at Edgmond Hall!

Our day began bright and early as we had a busy day ahead.  To prepare us for the day, we headed down to the dinner hall (at 7:50am) for breakfast and tucked into cereal and toast.  We then had `free time` to blow away the sleepy cobwebs.  Together, we wrapped up warm as the weather was frosty and crisp- it was beautiful!

At 9:30am, we worked with Geoff and Deb to hunt for natural objects so that we could design and create an animal/creature.  We were then split into 2 groups; the first group explored the grounds using their map skills through orienteering and the second group fed the farm animals and then used the natural objects (that had been collected earlier that day) to make their creature/animal.  Half way through, we paused for a drink and biscuits and to also swap groups.

After a busy morning, we sat down together for lunch and shared stories about all of the activities that we had enjoyed.

During the afternoon, we followed a trail deep into the forest.  The leaves buried our feet and the branches sheltered us from the winter sun.  As we walked deep into the forest, we noticed up-rooted trees, mole mounds and farming land.  Eventually, the trail led us to a clearing where we were set a challenge to build a shelter that would keep woodland animals, safe, warm and dry.  Together, we worked really hard in our teams and were extremely proud of the shelters that we had built.

Finally, we made our way back to the grounds of Edgmond Hall and got ourselves ready for tea.

Today has been another brilliant day, ending with a bedtime story to settle us for a good night’s sleep.

We can’t wait to see you tomorrow and tell you more about our adventures!

  • Edgmond Hall- Day 1

    Mon 06 Feb 2023

What a fantastic residential so far, we can’t believe we have only been here for 1 day- we haven’t had a moment to stop!

We began the day by settling ourselves into our rooms; making our beds and unpacking our suitcases.  After that, Deb and Sue gave us a tour of Edgmond (it’s so cool) and all of the areas that we would be using and learning in.

We then had lunch and `free time`.  There is so much space to play, explore and make new friends.

For our afternoon activities, we worked together in groups to take part in `team building` games.  We had to work as a team, communicate with our friends, persevere, problem solve and most all have lots of fun!

After our evening meal, we headed back out for our night walk.  Together we lit a trail with our torches and discovered the forest hidden behind the beautiful house of Edgmond Hall.  Along the way, we listened for creatures, gazed at the stars and followed the light of the moon.  At the very end, we made a wish at the foot of the wishing tree.

Finally, we made it back to the house sipped hot cocoa and nibbled on homemade cookies.  After a busy day, we put our pyjamas on, brushed our teeth and snuggled up into bed whilst our teacher read us a bedtime story.

We can't wait to find out what tomorrow has in store for us!

  • Ingestre Hall - Day 4

    Fri 02 Dec 2022

We had a great day yesterday and it was a chance to showcase all of our new skills we had learnt and discovered about ourselves over the week.

We had time to still work with tutors and put the finishing touches to our art work and performances and then in the afternoon we shared our work.

First visiting the art studio, then the drama studio, on to the dance studio and then we finished at the performance stage in music. There were some nerves about performing beforehand, but this quickly turned to excitement and then fulfilment and pride. The lightening, sound, audience and our resilience and professionalism bought the performances to life and it was superb!

Victory dances, cheers, celebratory hugs all round on the stage. They did it!

What a great way to celebrate a successful residential with some free time, a trip to the souvenir shop and then the best bit of all- our party/ disco night! We still had plenty of energy after our weeks work and performances to hit the dance floor!

We have slept well on our final night. Final bits to pack and breakfast this morning. Chance to reflect on the week and then we will be heading back.

  • Ingestre Hall - Day 3

    Fri 02 Dec 2022

    Hello from Ingestre Hall!

Today has been another busy day of fun, laughter, new experiences and delicious food!

We began our day bright and early so that we could shower and get ready for breakfast and the day ahead: we are now fully into the swing of our daily routines so that life at Ingestre Hall runs smooth like clockwork.

During our first break, we had a breath of fresh air in the morning mist. Together we played football, took a stroll and played hide and seek. We had a full day of lessons, with our teachers, so that we could prepare and rehearse in preparation for our sharing and performances on Thursday.

After tea, we wrapped up warm, grabbed our torches and headed out on our night walk. The clouds hid the stars and the warm lights lit a pathway for us to follow. As we headed further into the grounds, we stood and listened in silence. Darkness filled the air and the Hall became a dark silhouette in the distance. Together, we told stories and imagined we were on an adventure- it was an experience we will never forget!

To get warm and enjoy the last part of the evening, we headed back inside and had ‘free time’ in the main hall and studio.

  • Ingestre Hall - Day 2

    Fri 02 Dec 2022

Our day began bright and early at 7:30am as we got ready for breakfast- the best meal of the day! Shortly after, we headed off to our first workshop session with our teachers.

For our first break, we explored the grounds a little more and raced Mrs Thomas and Miss Cox up (and down) the huge hill. After a quick snack and a drink, we began our second workshop session.

Lunchtime began at 12:30pm, so we headed to lunch and then into the games room for ‘free time’.

During the afternoon, we continued to work within our groups. We then gathered together to share the work that we have produced so far- we were all a little nervous as we haven’t experienced anything like this for a while.

After tea, we took a short walk to Ingestre Chapel, where Tony shared wonderful stories and artefacts with us as we delved into the historical world of Ingestre Hall and its grounds.

Finally, we managed to squeeze in enough time to watch the England vs Wales game (however, we did have to pause it on BBC iPlayer so that we didn’t miss any of the action). A 3–0 win, a perfect way to end another jam-packed day!

  • Ingestre Hall - Day 1

    Tue 29 Nov 2022

As we approached the beautiful grounds of Ingestre Hall, our eyes sparkled and smiles grew larger. The hall is just magnificent!

What a fantastic residential so far, we haven’t had a moment to stop.  Together, we have learnt how to make our own bed, lay the table for dinner and breakfast, understand the rules and routines of Ingestre life and organise our indoor and outdoor clothing.

The staff (Richard, Henry, Cathy and Tara) are wonderful and really welcoming, our first workshop session has been brilliant.

This evening, we have had ‘free time’ in the main hall and are just about to get washed and dressed (into our PJs) ready for cinema night.

On Friday 11th November 2022, Remembrance Day, the children and staff remembered all of the brave servicemen and women who were involved in World    War I and World War II and later conflicts.  Across the school, children created a class wreath and laid it at our school alter during our traditional memorial assembly.

Children from years 4, 5 and 6 attended the memorial service, at Heath Lane Cemetery, and laid wreaths on the war monument.
